Is security really the place you want to cut corners?
If you're like me, family is everything!
Questions one should ask when thinking about a security system and the people who monitor your life’s biggest investment.
Does your service provider log open and closing signals (arming and disarming)?
For example: do they keep costs lower by ignoring these important events? This information is not only crucial for reporting how often the system is being used, but also allows the owner to see when the system is being armed and by who. As a business owner, isn’t it nice to see when your staff arrives and departs each day?
Does your service provider send daily timer test signals to ensure your system is communicating?
I’ve seen it all too often where your own security company isn’t aware your system isn’t sending signals because they have elected to save cellular costs. Ensure you are receiving signals every day; not every week or month. What are you paying for if they don’t supervise your account?
Do you have a lengthy 3 year contract?
You should ask yourself why. If your service provider does good work, you should be happy to stay with them regardless. The reality is that most “Free” systems require a 3-year subscription to recover the equipment costs they provided at no cost. Venture One provides a 1 year contract but I can assure you will stay with us for life. WE’RE THAT GOOD! We’ve built our reputation on it.
Who owns your equipment?
Ensure that you exclusively own the equipment from day 1 and it's not being leased to you. This is why most companies can offer free systems…...you are likely getting outdated, used equipment.
Do you have the installer code?
If your current provider is hesitant to provide you with any information for YOUR system, be very aware. In the future, if you decide to terminate services, this is a sneaky way for companies to encrypt your system and lock you and future service providers out of your keypad. More money out of your pocket to replace equipment you already own!
Does your system have redundancy?
It’s crucial that your system has more than one form of communication to the central station.
Does your current provider have free remote access to your system?
For example: if you forgot to arm your system, can you call your provider and have it armed remotely? Need a code changed immediately? Call us and we will do it right away with our connection to your site at no charge!
Are your zones combined?
This is a great way to save money up front by requiring less equipment. Unfortunately, “nothing is free”. This will become a service nightmare trying to determine which device is causing the issue when issues arise.
